Formatting a table in BIRT for alternate rows takes only a few simple steps.  Use this often to help your reports stand out.

First select the detail row for your table.

In your row properties select the “highlights” tab. Click Add.

In your highlight menu you want to enter row.__rownum %2 into the expression builder

Leave the evaluation as Equal To and enter 0 on the right-hand side of the condition.  Choose your background color and press OK.

Your report should now have alternate row colors.
